J. Terry Mann is an Attorney in the Transactional Section of King & Ballow in Nashville, Tennessee.
Terry earned his law degree from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky and his undergraduate degree at Indiana University.
Before working at King & Ballow, Terry worked as an Attorney at Bone McAllester Norton, and at Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis.
His practice includes all areas of ERISA the (Employment Retirement Income Security Act) and executive and employee benefits. He has experience advising companies in a broad range of industries on establishing and administering all types of benefit plans, including tax-qualified and other retirement plans such as 401(k), profit sharing, defined benefit, cash balance, 403(b) and 457. His practice also includes advising clients with Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) and assisting with ESOP matters such as transactional issues, fiduciary and tax compliance, and addressing employee benefits issues in mergers and acquisitions.
Terry also works with group health plans (both fully insured and self-insured), split-dollar and other insurance arrangements, disability plans and flexible spending account plans. He also regularly advises in the design and administration of equity-based compensation plans such as stock option, restricted stock, employee stock purchase and phantom stock plans and various types of executive compensation arrangements.
